I was reading the paper yesterday and came across this following article from the L.A. Times.

Check it out below and let me know what you think:

Personally, do I let this kind of stuff discourage me?  HECK NO!  And you want to know why?  It's because I am always questioning everything I do.  There will always be a better, more effiecient, and more effective way to coach.

So what's the ultimate danger?  It's that our profession stops asking real-world questions that should be the basis for sports performance!

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Re: Is The Sports Performance Profession Doomed?

My response to the article? Please explain Michael Phelps and Usan Bolt. If their performance has peaked, it certainly isn't obvious.

Re: Is The Sports Performance Profession Doomed?

World records are more for the interest of the "band wagon" sports fan, a fan that just talks about track or swimming when a world record has been made. Even then, it really is not the talk of the town, per se, outside of the olympic games.
There will always be a demand to compete, thus a winner and loser, and until the games cease to exist...there will always be a need for sports performance enhancement through the knowledge of trainers and coaches.
As performance lives, so does the performance coach.
